CREATING CREATIVE COMMONS

Perfectly timed to coincide with and complement Lawrence Lessig's appearance today, Zarf Vantongerloo is debuting a Creative Commons license generator, for Residents who want to affix those standards to their in-world creations. Creator of the first in-world notary public (and now a Linden staffer), Zarf will demo his technology on Democracy Island, in the hour before Professor Lessig's avatar arrives at the Pooley Auditorium. Full details at the island's blog here.

UPDATE ON PROFESSOR LESSIG'S EVENT

Though reservations to the event are already full-up, text repeaters (which "broadcast" the event conversation anywhere in SL) are available-- IM me (Hamlet Linden) to request one.

At least one repeater "listening" party has been scheduled-- details here.

Video streaming expert Fremont Cunningham is generously creating a live simulcast of the event-- watching parties are scheduled here and here.

More updates posted as they arrive. And I'm still compiling a standby/will call list to accomodate any cancellations. To get on the standby list, IM me ASAP.
