GAME ON: PRIMMIES

(Another featured game for SL-E3-- background here.)

Developer Jeffrey Gomez on his team's game:

Primmies is essentially a Second Life interpretation of the popular RTS/Puzzle genre. Much like Lemmings, players are tasked with guiding their poor, scared units through traps, mazes, and even Second Life itself to safety... Primmies challenges the player to confront ever-mounting odds as they guide their intrepid band of Bills, Bettys, Boomers, and more into the jaws of evil.

Primmies is designed for one or more players. Unlike its predecessors, we have strived to make the 3D environments as simple and pleasing to the eye as possible, while keeping controls intuitive.

Jeffrey Gomez on Primmies' key features:

We're pretty much using Volumedetect and a bunch of "cheap" scripts in overhead to run our game. [smiles] It's hard to explain without a formal knowledge of LSL and vector math.

Jeffrey Gomez on the biggest challenges in creating Primmies:

[S]ame reason Katamari Damacy won't happen in Second Life. And likely not on Havok 2. The physics engine cries bloody murder for collision math. So much so I crashed the fuxing sim with two units, twelve prims each, by mistake. Had to have it rolled back.

Sooo... yeah. I have it rigged to do as few collisions as we can.

Haha - I got scooped! Oh well, I guess it's not too bad to be quoted directly. =)
