Bowing to an enormous public clamor (well, three readers, anyway) to conduct more "man on the street"-style profiles, I'm going to start a five-part series next week, featuring random interviews with random residents, selected at random from five non-random categories:

- A resident from one of the Leader boards.
- A resident who owns one of the most popular Second Life hang-outs (based on Dwell foot traffic.)
- The first resident I meet when I visit the Welcome Area for new users (pictured above.)
- A resident who happens to be online, when I go in-world during the evening.
- A resident who happens to be online, when I go in-world during the day.

I'm literally talking about opening the appropriate resident directory window, closing my eyes, and clicking at random-- or showing up at the Welcome area, spinning in a circle, and handing out my calling card to the first resident in front of me. If it turns out I already know them, I'll move on to the next candidate. If they're new to me, I'll talk to them about their plans and ambitions, what they enjoy, what they don't, who they love, who they don't, and more. And if all goes well, I'll check in on them from time to time, too.

So watch this space on Wednesday, and find out who I meet. And meanwhile, keep the story suggestions coming.

Sounds exciting. "Meet the residents," LOL. I'm looking forward to this, Hamlet!

I STILL encourage a big red button on the Map screen that could say:

LOL... by the way... in that picture, isn't that the Welcome Area in Lime, not Ahern? ;) That one's hardly used... I was wondering why it looked so different until I noticed a certain Gray structure in the background... Ananda's Eiffeltowerish and the airport.

Great idea, Hamlet. Looking forward to the results.

I think this is a great idea! It's very cool to get to know random residents and not-so-random residents we want to know about. Looking forward to next week!

Hehe probably took it in the Lime one because it's empty.

I'm interested in seeing what kinda random people you pull up and what kinda befuddled responses we get.
