NEW WORLD NOTES' LINK OF THE WEEK

This week and every coming week, I hope to highlight one or more current entries from other Second Life bloggers. I'll be scanning my SL blog ring for cool, provocative, informative entries to point to, but I also welcome everyone to send me links to their own SL-related writing, or that of others: e-mail me at [email protected], or IM Hamlet Linden in-world.

This week's link comes from Pandastrong Fairplay of Second Language, a publication of SLuniverse.com, the resident-owned forum/blog site...

Fairplay has some pessimistic-but-poetic prophecies, inspired by some policy changes recently announced by Linden Lab:

Ahern will be a great dust bowl, littered with westward newbies lulled into the hierophantic musings of the betas. A stark presence, the ghost of LOL, illuminates the talks of hoarding, saving, and murky dreams of the profiteer. Prims are left untouched as our economy breaks stasis, while ratings become just as scarce as gold and the gold of true immersion once was...

What drives his dire warnings, and what is Linden Lab's response? Find out next week, when I plan to run a rare interview with Philip Linden, the man behind the man behind the machine.
