NWN AT 100K! (AND, WHERE TO GO FROM HERE)

It took some five months for New World Notes to pass 50,000 page views, but just a bit over two and a half, to double that number. Late Sunday night, NWN rolled past 100,000 page views, propelled in large part by a blogging assist from Cory Doctorow of Boing Boing-- and thankfully, whose enormous linkage whuffie is still going strong. I'd love to take most of the credit for this upsurge of readers, but to be totally honest, the lion's share goes to the residents I've written about, who have the stories to tell and the creations to show off. That in mind, a recent of popular NWN entries to come since passing the 50K mark in late June, through to September 9th (after the break)...

- THE SECOND LIFE OF HARVEY SMITH
- THE TAZ OF OZ!
- FALLING FOR EDDIE
- SHOOTING TO KILL: THE COMBAT OF TARTARUS
- SO VERY KERRY
- THE SACRED AND THE PROFANE
- POLITICAL ARCHETYPES
- PERMISSION TO HUG
- SHOOTING TO KILL, PART TWO: THE COMPACT EXPLODER OF FRANCIS CHUNG
- THE DREAM OF THE WHITE CHAMBER
- BURNING MAN, BURNING LIFE
- THE FATE OF WASHU
- A LEVER TO MOVE THE MIND

These are entries that were linked by other bloggers and/or generated a significant number of page views and/or yielded an active discussion in their comments sections. If I could pin my finger on a unifying theme for these, they're stories about builds that somehow relate to the real world, popular culture, or computer games, and interesting Second Life residents. Of course, popularity isn't the only criterion for choosing stories to be covered in New World Notes, and never will be. But then, there could be subjects that readers might devour, were I to give them more attention. (Especially because many NWN readers have never even been in Second Life.)

So I'm putting this question to readers (risky as that can be), and inviting them to post here: What kind of stories would you like to see more of, on this blog? And for that matter, what kind of stories would you like to see less of? Post your suggestions here, or forever hold your peace.

Well, at least until we pass 200K.

Hey Wagner -- I think I first visited here awhile back without not quite knowing about it when Nash's Schizophrenia simulator was featured by Cory Doctorow on Boing Boing (I believe it was). Just wanted to give you praise for keeping this blog and for continuing to update those of us, like myself, who do not have a Second Life yet. ;)

But my curiosity is definitely piqued... more than that now, I feel. I may have to "get a Second Life" soon :D

Cheers.

First, let me say thank you for your faithful coverage for the past year and some months. I've been an avid reader of NWN since its inception and interested in SL since early beta.
However, the one thing I find most interesting is the potential of scripting. I know a lot of the builds and other things you cover involve scripting/programming but that rarely, if ever, seems to be the focus. I'd like to know what new and exciting things people are working on in the programming arena (especially with the newly-added RPC capeability). What are the coolest hacks? Potential dangers? Future possibilities?
Thanks. :)

Like I just posted to the wrong story, I think it would be interesting to occasionally see life from a Linden point of view.

To relieve yourself from the grip of erectile dysfunction and all the disasters it unleashes in your life, you have to adopt the most effective and secure mode of treatment which is none other that the anti-impotency medication levitra. As this fact is laid bare in front of you, a question might arise in your mind that why the efficacy of levitra prescription and the safety of levitra dosages is so overwhelmingly trustworthy? The answer is simple: the importance as well as popularity of the levitra is boosted by the FDA approval granted to it. As soon as the facts associated with levitra and FDA approval were revealed after the approval of the drug as an oral medicine to treat erectile dysfunction on August 2003, erectile dysfunction patients flocked to buy levitra in hordes and got rid of their impotency.
