KATRINA RELIEF IN SECOND LIFE UPDATE

Earlier this evening, FlipperPA Peregrine gave me the tally of Red Cross donations he's received at the Waterhead memorial: "L$112,000 already raised!" Which means just over $400 in American cash to the Red Cross. It's a great start, but not nearly enough. Fortunately, more in-world events and donation drives are already on the way, and Residents have been writing in to tell me of them. To wit:

Apotheus Silverman:
SL Exchange is accepting donations for the next two weeks after which we will convert the proceeds to US Dollars and send it to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief effort. Direct link to the donations.

SLBoutique.com has an item up, similar to the Relay For Life shirt, which you will receive for free when you donate to the site. All proceeds will be donated, and SLBoutique.com will match, Linden for Linden, donations made over the next two week.

David Jacobs:
The Costello Family is organizing a Benefit Party this weekend to aid those hit by Hurricane Katrina. And we need your help. We are asking you to participate in this event with any donations for either our raffle or donating your proceeds for the sales made for that weekend. We know we are asking a lot but then again, we are giving a lot in return. The Benefit will start at 6am game time Saturday, September 3rd at Heaven Island, and will continue on throught until on until 6am game time Monday, September 4th.
