... illustrated in two screenshots.

Used to be, you could pretty much teleport from anywhere in the world to anywhere else in the world. Following the principles of smart growth urban planning, Linden Lab introduced the telehubs late last year, so now, when you teleport to a given location, you're actually transported to the nearest telehub, which is often hundreds of meters away from it. This means you have to travel the rest of that distance, on foot, flying, or in a vehicle-- while having a look at the neighborhood and its residents, the shops, the clubs, the art galleries, the game sites, and so on, along the way. Which is a great way of encouraging a sense of community and public space. (Unsurprisingly, it's also had the unforeseen consequence of driving up the real estate values for land near telehubs.)

And then there's that whole bodies-and-limbs-gruesomely-fusing-together-on-occasion deal to contend with, too.

So who was the other unfortunate resident in this particular teleporter malfunction, then? :)

I already posted on the forums about my own mixed feelings of living in remote snow land for two months, 800m from the nearest telehub - and then waking up last week facing the newest telehub in the world just 100m from my doorstep.

I took a few days to get over the feeling of loss of privacy - and then a few more minutes to construct a giant, phantom, transparent-from-the-back advertising billboard which now sits on my roof :) Sales have been good....

LOL, at first I thought the other fellow in the photo was putting a chokehold on you, Hamlet. Wowzers.

I would think there'd at least be a simple way to implement "bumping" so that both of you are pushed to the edges of a telehub pad for maximum capacity -- not unlike Star Trek transporters.

It sure does *look* big enough.

(I think I've gotta get some sort of fancy speedy-shoes device to blast me across the landscape when needed and save time.)

You should be able to grab a free jetpack from the telehub vending machines.

There are free jetpacks? Yes way? :) Thanks Lord Palmerstone, I'll check into that...!
